The Sultan-Selim Mosque

The minaret of the Sultan-Selim mosque is visible from afar. It’s 36 metres high. The islamic house of prayer was built between 1993 and 1995. At the time it was Germany’s largest mosque. The prayer room has room for 2500 faithful, the women’s hall has space for 500 people. The cupola is adorned with delicate calligraphy. The ground floor is home to the ritual wash room and other rooms. The Institute for German-Turkish integration studies has offices there.
