Planetarium

back to overview

Mannheim Planetarium was one of the first in the world. It was opened as early as 1927. The original building was quite a distance from the present one, in the grounds of the Lower Luisenpark. An air raid in 1943 badly damaged the Old Planetarium, and it was never rebuilt. The new building was completed in 1984 here on Europaplatz, Europe Square.
